The first Broadway preview of Stephen Adly Guirgis’ play “Between Riverside and Crazy” has been canceled.

Previews were scheduled to begin at the Hayes Theatre on Nov. 30, but will now begin Dec. 1 due to company illness. Opening night remains set for Dec. 19. Ticket holders should contact their point of purchase.

The play tells the story of a newly-widowed father and his recently paroled son who fight to keep the last rent stabilized apartment on Riverside Drive — with old wounds and new characters who pop up along the way.

The cast includes Stephen McKinley Henderson, Victor Almanzar, Elizabeth Canavan, Rosal Colón, Liza Colón-Zayas, Michael Rispoli and Common.

Austin Pendleton directs the Pulitzer Prize-winning play. Other members of the creative team include Walt Spangler (scenic design), Alexis Forte (costume design), Keith Parham (lighting design) and Ryan Rumery (original music/sound design). Casting is by Telsey + Company.

“Between Riverside and Crazy” first premiered at Atlantic Theater Company’s Linda Gross Theater in July 2014 and then transferred to Second Stage’s Tony Kiser Theater in February 2015 for an Off-Broadway encore. This production marks its Broadway premiere.

The Broadway engagement is produced under the leadership of Second Stage’s president and artistic director Carole Rothman and executive director Khady Kamara.
