The full company has been announced for the upcoming Broadway revival of Henrik Ibsen’s “An Enemy of the People.” Sam Gold will direct the previously announced production, which will feature a new adaptation by Amy Herzog. The mounting is set to begin previews on Feb. 27 and open on March 18 at the Circle in the Square Theatre. The revival is slated to play a limited engagement through June 16.

Newly announced cast members include Caleb Eberhardt as Hovstad, Matthew August Jeffers as Billing, David Patrick Kelly as Morten Kiil, Thomas Jay Ryan as Aslaksen and Alan Trong as Captain Horste. Rounding out the company as townspeople will be David Mattar Merten, Katie Broad, Bill Buell and Max Roll.

Eberhardt previously appeared on the Main Stem as David Heard in “Choir Boy.” Kelly was most recently seen as the Narrator/Mysterious Man in the 2022 revival of “Into the Woods.” Roll made his Broadway debut understudying and stepping in for Sean Hayes as Oscar Levant in “Good Night, Oscar.” Ryan most recently took the Main Stem stage as Lt. Schrank in the 2020 revival of “West Side Story.”

“Enemy” will mark the Broadway debuts of Broad, Buell, Jeffers, Merten and Trong.

They will appear alongside the previously announced Jeremy Strong as Dr. Thomas Stockmann, Michael Imperioli as Peter Stockmann and Victoria Pedretti as Petra Stockmann.

Ibsen’s drama is set at a popular new spa in a small Norwegian town. When Doctor Thomas Stockmann discovers the spa’s waters are actually contaminated, he hopes to report the news. However, those in power attempt to silence his revelation. Stockmann is disturbed to find the charge is led by the town’s mayor, who is none other than his brother, Peter.

“An Enemy of the People” is being produced by Seaview, Patrick Catullo and Plan B.
