A revival of David Mamet’s “American Buffalo” starring Laurence Fishburn and Sam Rockwell will come to Broadway this spring.

Directed by Neil Pepe, who has previously directed Mamet’s “Speed-the-Plow and “A Life in the Theatre,” the play will begin previews in March 2020, with an opening on April 14. An all-female production of Mamet’s “Glengarry Glen Ross” was originally announced to come to Broadway this spring, but has now been postponed.

“Theatrical real estate is at a premium and to secure the right theatre, we have deferred the production to the 2020-2021 season,” the “Glengarry” producers said in a statement to Broadway News.

Jeffrey Richards and Steve Traxler are producers on both “Glengarry” and “American Buffalo.” On “American Buffalo,” the producing team also includes Stephanie P. McClelland.

The theater and full casting for “American Buffalo” have not yet been announced.

Fishburne, who will play Donny, last appeared on Broadway in 2008 in the one-man play “Thurgood.” The actor, known for his leading role in “The Matrix” films, won a Tony Award in 1992 for his performance in “Two Trains Running.”

Rockwell, who takes on the role of “Teach,” recently portrayed Bob Fosse in the FX series “Fosse/Verdon.” His recent film credits include “Vice” and “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.”

Pepe is the artistic director of Atlantic Theater Company and has also directed “Hands on a Hardbody” on Broadway.

“American Buffalo,” which centers on workers at a junk shop trying to steal back a buffalo nickel, originally premiered on Broadway in 1977 and had two subsequent revivals in 1983 and in 2008. It was adapted into a film in 1996.
