Broadway’s “Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York)” is set to hold a New York Community Night this summer. Following the Aug. 18 performance, representatives from various New York City-based arts, justice, housing, health and environmental organizations will be recognized during a special curtain call.

Participating organizations include CAMBA, a community services organization; City Lore, which supports the city’s living cultural heritage through education and public programs; God’s Love We Deliver, a nonprofit meal delivery and nutrition care service; Immigrant Children Advocates Relief Effort, a coalition of legal service providers offering free representation to unaccompanied immigrant children and youth facing deportation; JASA, a nonprofit that offers various services to older New Yorkers; and New York Restoration Project, which aims to build, restore and steward green spaces across the five boroughs.

Also participating are SAGE, which advocates for resources and services for LGBTQ+ elders; Search and Care, which helps older adults remain safe and socially connected within their homes; Service Program for Older People, a behavioral health provider for older adults; the Brotherhood Sisterhood Sol, a Harlem-based organization serving young New Yorkers; United Neighborhood Houses of New York, which offers various services for people in settlement house communities; and Voices of Community Activists and Leaders, a statewide organization fighting for systemic change for low-income people affected by HIV/AIDS, the drug war, mass incarceration and homelessness.

“Two Strangers” follows idealistic tourist Dougal and jaded New Yorker Robin through a tumultuous journey across the city the night before Dougal’s estranged father is set to marry Robin’s sister. The musical, featuring a book and score by Jim Barne and Kit Buchanan, debuted in the UK’s Ipswich in 2019; a production at London’s Kiln Theatre and a West End transfer would follow.

“Two Strangers” officially opened at Broadway’s Longacre Theatre on Nov. 20, 2025, after which it was nominated for eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical. It is produced on Broadway by Kevin McCollum, Tim Johanson, Glass Half Full Productions and Jamie Wilson Productions.
