The Tony Awards administration committee met on April 9 to discuss the eligibility status of three Broadway productions for the 2025-2026 season. This was the third time the committee has met this season ahead of the 79th annual Tony Awards. Prior rulings can be found here and here.

Current Broadway productions of “Every Brilliant Thing,” “Giant” and “Dog Day Afternoon” were up for discussion this time. The committee made the following determinations:

“Every Brilliant Thing” will be considered eligible in the Best Revival of a Play category, with Duncan Macmillan and Jonny Donahoe eligible as authors.

Ebon Moss-Bachrach will be considered eligible in the category of Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Play for his role in “Dog Day Afternoon.”

All other eligibility will be consistent with opening night credits: actors whose names appear above the title of the show will be eligible for leading performance categories, while actors whose names appear below the title will be eligible for featured performance categories.

The Tony Awards are presented by the Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing. Raj Kapoor, Sarah Levine Hall, and Jack Sussman will produce this year’s show; Kapoor and Levine Hall will also serve as co-showrunners. Patrick Menton and Rob Paine will be this year’s co-executive producers, and Menton will serve as head of talent.

The Tonys eligibility cut-off date for the 2025-2026 season is April 26 for every Broadway production that meets the other requirements for eligibility.

Nominations will be announced on May 5 ahead of the ceremony, which will be held on June 7 at 8 p.m. at Radio City Music Hall. Hosted by P!NK, the Tonys will be broadcast live to both coasts on CBS Television Network, and streamed live via Paramount+.
