Matthew López’s Tony Award-winning drama “The Inheritance” will be released as an audioplay via Audible Theater on March 23. The 2020 Best Play Tony winner is among the latest slate of plays coming to the audio storytelling service.

López‘s epic two-part play centers around three generations of gay men who fight for their future in a changing American landscape. “The Inheritance” opened on Broadway on Nov. 17, 2019, and closed on March 11, 2020 — after a run in the West End during the 2018-2019 season.

The Audible Theater cast of “The Inheritance” will feature the company from the 2022 production at Los Angeles’ Geffen Playhouse: Bill Brochtrup, Tantoo Cardinal, Juan Castano, Jay Donnell, Eric Flores, Israel Erron Ford, August Gray Gall, Adam Kantor, Eddie Lopez, Kasey Mahaffy, Miguel Pinzon, Avi Roque, Bradley James Tejeda (who also appeared in the Broadway production) and Tuc Watkins.

“As Audible Theater expands, we remain dedicated to producing full slates of audio plays that showcase each type of theatrical storytelling we bring to listeners,”  Kate Navin, head of Audible Theater, said in a statement. “‘The Inheritance’ makes an award-winning Broadway play available to listeners globally.”

New plays “Good Enemy” by Yilong Liu, “Dirty Laundry” by Mathilde Dratwa and “Marrow” by Aditi Brennan Kapil will also debut on Audible Theater on March 23.

“Audible Theater’s Spring 2023 slate celebrates our mission by bringing you both award-winning stage veterans and rising stars,” Navin said. “There’s truly a story for everyone.”

Audible Theater, a subsidiary of Amazon, hosts live performances at the Minetta Lane Theatre in New York City. Audible has also produced the recent Broadway productions “Walking with Ghosts” and “for colored girls who have considered suicide / when the rainbow is enuf.”
