The producers of the first Broadway revival of Yasmina Reza’s “Art” have revealed the production’s team of designers. As previously announced, “Art,” which is translated by Christopher Hampton from Reza’s original French, will begin previews on Aug. 28 and open on Sept. 16 at Broadway’s Music Box Theatre. The Scott Ellis-directed comedy is scheduled for a limited engagement through Dec. 21.

Newly announced, “Art” will feature scenic design by Tony Award winner David Rockwell, costume design by Tony winner Linda Cho, lighting design by Tony nominee Jen Schriever and sound design by Tony nominee Mikaal Sulaiman. All of these artists have collaborated on an Ellis-helmed production before. Most recently, Rockwell, Cho and Sulaiman were part of the design teams for the 2024 revival of “Doubt” and the current mounting of “Pirates! The Penzance Musical,” while Schriever crafted the lighting design for 2022’s “Birthday Candles.”

Beyond the aforementioned productions, Rockwell is known for his Tony-winning scenic design of the 2016’s revival of “She Loves Me,” also directed by Ellis. Cho is a two-time Tony winner for her work on 2013’s “A Gentleman’s Guide to Love & Murder” and 2024’s “The Great Gatsby.” Schriever received back-to-back Tony nominations in 2022 for “A Strange Loop” and in 2023 for “Death of a Salesman.” Sulaiman is a 2022 Tony nominee for designing the sound of “Macbeth.”

“Art” will star Bobby Cannavale, James Corden and Neil Patrick Harris. Casting is by Jim Carnahan.

“Art” follows Marc (Cannavale), Yvan (Corden) and Serge (Harris), whose longstanding friendship strains after Serge’s purchase of an expensive and completely white painting sparks a debate on what constitutes “real art.” The play received its Broadway premiere in 1998, winning the Tony for Best Play.

“Art” is being produced on Broadway by Sand and Snow Entertainment (Michael Shulman), ATG Productions and Gavin Kalin Productions with 101 Productions serving as executive producer and general manager.
