The Broadway League says it is discussing the recommendation from the Center for Disease Control to postpone or cancel gatherings of 50 or more people for the next eight weeks.
“We are currently in discussions about the most recent recommendations from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and are prepared to follow the direction of any mandated closures from city, state, and health authorities. We continue to closely monitor the changing situation daily,” the League said in a statement.
The city and state have not yet released recommendations to that point. The eight-week postponement would extend the current theater closures, which have set a targeted reopening date of April 13 after a 30-day shutdown.
Meanwhile, Actors’ Equity has asked all Equity producers to temporarily postpone all required Equity Principal Auditions and Equity Chorus Calls.
President Trump issued guidance Monday recommending that all Americans avoid gatherings of 10 or more people for the next 15 days.
