Concord Theatricals has announced that the Tony Award-winning play “Stereophonic” is now available for licensing worldwide. Professional theater companies looking to perform the play are welcome to apply for licensing through Concord’s website.

“Stereophonic” centers on a fictional rock band as they gather in the studio to record an album. As their fame grows, tensions between them flare up, threatening to destroy the group just as they make it big. The play, penned by David Adjmi, features music by Will Butler, formerly of Arcade Fire. It premiered Off-Broadway at Playwrights Horizons in 2023, and transferred to Broadway the following year, opening at the John Golden Theatre on April 19. The original production was directed by Daniel Aukin and featured Will Brill, Andrew R. Butler, Juliana Canfield, Eli Gelb, Tom Pecinka, Sarah Pidgeon and Chris Stack.

Following its Broadway run, “Stereophonic” was nominated for 13 Tony Awards, making it the most Tony-nominated play of all time. It ultimately won five, including Best Play. It has since embarked on a U.S. national tour, and had a West End run from May 24 through Nov. 22, 2025.

Concord Theatricals licenses music and theatrical works to professional, amateur and student theater companies worldwide. In addition to “Stereophonic,” its roster includes the catalogs of R&H Theatricals, Tams-Witmark, Samuel French, the Andrew Lloyd Webber Collection, Dramatists Play Service and Playscripts. The licensor also provides music and script publishing, cast recording and producing services to the creators and producers of plays and musicals.
