At the June 7 evening performance of the new musical comedy “Shucked,” the show’s book writer, Robert Horn, and co-composer, Brandy Clark, made their onstage Broadway debuts. The duo shared the leading role of Maizy in a concert version of the musical at the Nederlander Theatre.

All three performers who play or understudy Maizy suffered from various illnesses (including one related to the smoke crisis polluting the air in New York City), leaving them unable to perform. Horn and Clark combined their skills so the performance could go on. Horn read his Tony-nominated script and Clark sang from her Tony-nominated score.
