Tony Award-winning Broadway actor Lea Salonga will be honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame this fall. Salonga, the Walk’s first Filipina honoree, will receive her star in the category of Live Performance during a ceremony at 6255 Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles on Sept. 4 at 11:30 am PT.
E! News correspondent Sibley Scoles will host the ceremony with Ming-Na Wen, who co-starred with Salonga in the 1998 Disney animated film “Mulan.” Wen contributed the title character’s singing voice, while Salonga sang her part in the film’s original songs.
On the Main Stem, Salonga began her career in 1993 as a replacement for Eponine in the original Broadway production of the Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schönberg musical “Les Misérables,” later returning as Fantine in its 2006 Broadway revival. Salonga originated the role of Kim in Boublil and Schönberg’s “Miss Saigon” in its West End debut, following the show to Broadway and winning both Olivier and Tony Awards for her performance. Salonga’s other Broadway credits include the 2017 revival of “Once on This Island,” the 2025 revue “Stephen Sondheim’s Old Friends” and “Here Lies Love,” which she also co-produced.
In addition to “Mulan,” Salonga can be heard on film as the singing voice of Princess Jasmine in Disney’s “Aladdin.” She is also starring in Dreamworks Animation’s upcoming animated fantasy film “Forgotten Island” and is set to be honored with the Icon Award at the third annual Manila International Film Festival’s closing night gala following her Walk of Fame star’s dedication.
Walk of Fame stars are distributed by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, which has partnered with businesses and city officials to enhance the local economy since 1921. Currently helmed by president and chief executive officer Ron Frierson, chief operating officer Dan Halden and board chair Jerry Neuman, the Chamber of Commerce has administered the attraction since its 1960 groundbreaking. Salonga’s star will be the 2,855th along the Walk of Fame.
