The Broadway production of Kimberly Belflower’s “John Proctor Is the Villain” has announced a new set of post-show programming. A continuation of previous week-long events, “Spirit Week 3.0” will take place following performances from July 15 through July 20 at the Booth Theatre.
The first activation will coincide with Chiara Aurelia’s first bow in the drama. Ticket holders for the July 15 performance will be offered treats from Levain Bakery after the show in front of the Booth.
Following the July 16 matinée, the production will host a “Feminism Club Bake Sale” for ticket patrons in Shubert Alley, featuring free Milk Bar’s “B’Day Truffles.”
Prebiotic soda vendor Poppi will host a “Study Break” for ticketed attendees of the July 16 evening performance, offering various flavors of the soft drink.
Theatergoers attending the July 17 performance will receive a special class card to attend a “John Proctor Is the Villain”-themed ride at SoulCycle’s Bryant Park location (located on 110 West 41st Street in Manhattan) at 12:15 p.m. The class, which is open to the public, will feature a playlist inspired by the show. Individuals interested in attendance can sign up here.
“John Proctor Is the Villain”’s July 18 performance will be immediately followed by the production’s third “Prom Silent Disco” dance party in Shubert Alley, presented by What the Float. The celebration will feature songs from “Virgin,” the latest album from Lorde, whose song “Green Light” is featured in the play.
Finally, limited edition “John Proctor Is the Villain” posters will be provided to ticket patrons across all performances on July 19 and 20.
The 2018 rural Georgia-set “John Proctor Is the Villain” follows a group of students who question the longstanding notion that the character of John Proctor in Arthur Miller’s “The Crucible” is a hero and the ramifications of this discussion within their community. The Danya Taymor-directed production began previews on March 20 and opened on April 14. The twice-extended production is scheduled to run through Aug. 31. “John Proctor Is the Villain" received seven Tony Award nominations, which, along with “The Hills of California,” was the most of any play in the 2024-2025 season.
“John Proctor Is the Villain” is produced by Sue Wagner, John Johnson, John Mara Jr., Runyonland and Eric Falkenstein.
