Broadway may be seeing another Bette Midler-related property.

The Jackal Group is producing a Broadway stage musical adaptation of the 1979 film “The Rose,” which starred Bette Midler. Glen Ballard was tapped as composer, with Gail Berman of The Jackal Group, Joe Early, Michael Gorfaine and Sam Schwartz producing.

“The Rose” centers on a singer who is struggling with substance abuse and rocky relationships as she tries to become a star.

Publicists for the production said they are not yet announcing when the musical plans to come to Broadway.

Berman previously produced “Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat” and “The Nerd,” among others, on Broadway.

“We are so excited to bring a modern-day take on this project to the stage, and beyond thrilled to have Glen, a true musical vanguard at the helm,” Berman said in the press release.

Ballard, a six-time Grammy Award winner, wrote “Ghost the Musical,” and produced and co-wrote music Alanis Morissette’s “Jagged Little Pill” and wrote and arranged Michael Jackson’s “Man in the Mirror.”
