Five new cast members are coming to the Broadway production of “Hamilton” beginning on May 12.
Lauren Mariasoosay, who joined the North American tour as Eliza Hamilton in 2024, will take over that role on Broadway. Marcus John, who has played multiple roles on the U.S. tour, will step into the role of Alexander Hamilton. Also on May 12, Amina Faye will join as Peggy Schuyler and Maria Reynolds, and also serve as an understudy for Eliza; Lencia Kebede will take over as Angelica Schuyler, with Wallace Smith as Hercules Mulligan and James Madison on the same day. This will mark the Broadway debuts of Mariasoosay, John and Faye.
Prior to her run with the “Hamilton” tour, Mariasoosay played Catherine Parr in the original Canadian production of “SIX.” Mariasoosay has also appeared in national touring productions of “Cats” and “Aladdin.” Mariasoosay has partnered with nonprofit organizations like Laadliyan, which seeks to empower South Asian women throughout Canada, and Didihood, which supports South Asian women working in media, art and creative industries.
John has played Hercules Mulligan, James Madison, John Laurens, Philip Hamilton, the Marquis de Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson in the U.S. tour of “Hamilton.” In 2016, he portrayed Benny in the 20th anniversary national tour of “Rent.” Earlier this year, John was a member of the company of “Chez Joey” at Washington, D.C.’s Arena Stage.
Faye previously played Jane Seymour in the U.S. touring production of “SIX.” Off-Broadway, she also appeared in the Public Theater’s productions of “Suffs” and “The Seat of Our Pants.”
Kebede has appeared in multiple roles in both the U.S. and national touring productions of “Hamilton”: Eliza Hamilton, Maria Reynolds and Peggy and Angelica Schuyler. She also appeared in the 20th-anniversary touring production of “Rent,” and starred in Broadway’s “Wicked” as Elphaba from March 2025 to March 2026.
Smith made his Broadway debut in “The Lion King” as a 2007 replacement in the role of Simba after a stint in the touring production. He has since appeared in numerous Broadway productions, including “American Idiot,” “Rocky,” the 2009 revivals of “Hair” and “Ragtime,” the 2011 revival of “Godspell” and the 2014 revival of “Les Misérables,” in addition to the national tour of “Hamilton.”
