Broadway Licensing Global (BLG), the licensing house for more than 8,000 theater titles, has announced its first two employees for its London office. James Cawood and Shay Virk will lead BLG’s presence in the U.K. as director of licensing U.K. and Europe, and manager of marketing, respectively.

This announcement follows the company’s recent international expansion beyond its New York City home base.

“We are thrilled to expand our team with [these] key leaders to ensure the successful rise of BLG in one of the most critical markets in the world,” said BLG founder and CEO Sean Cercone in a statement.

Cawood is no stranger to the world of theatrical licensing, having previously served as managing director of the plays division for Musical Theatre International/Josef Weinberger Ltd.

In addition to experience in international event management, Virk’s marketing work includes brand building for Redbull and the British Broadcasting Corporation.

“We are looking forward to what is to come as Cawood and Virk lead the charge so that every U.K. and European theater has full access to our extensive catalog of more than 8,000 plays and musicals,” continued Cercone. “The opening of our London office is a continuation of our mission of making everyone a theater person.”

Founded in 2017, BLG is the parent organization for Dramatists Play Service, Playscripts and Stage Rights.
