Broadway producer Dori Berinstein has been named executive director of the Commercial Theater Institute (CTI). The professional development program is a joint venture of the Broadway League and Theatre Development Fund (TDF). Berinstein succeeds interim executive directors Sue Frost and Victoria Bailey, who announced they were stepping down in February.
Berinstein is a multiple Tony Award-winning producer of theater and film, and the founder of production company Dramatic Forces. Her Broadway producing credits include the Tony winners “Stereophonic,” “Company,” “Thoroughly Modern Millie,” “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” and “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?” Berinstein is also producing the upcoming stage adaptation of the animated film “Happy Feet.” She previously served on the Broadway League’s board of governors and as co-chair of the League’s audience development committee. In addition, Berinstein is a co-founder of the Broadway Podcast Network, Camp Broadway and the Lights of Broadway Show Cards.

CTI was founded as a joint effort between the Broadway League, the Main Stem’s trade association and TDF, a nonprofit organization that aims to increase access to the performing arts and support theatermakers. The program, now in its 45th year, offers training and professional development courses to commercial theater producers and managers.
