Broadway shows collectively grossed $25.1 million last week, in the second highest grossing week on record this season.

Attendance across 32 shows in the week ended Nov. 21 reached 212,819, with theaters playing at an 80.5% capacity. Broadway had 13 more performances than the previous week, ended Nov. 14, but the collective gross numbers are below that week’s record high.

In the week ended Nov. 14, Broadway shows grossed $25.6 million across 214 performances and 31 shows. The week ended Nov. 21 had 227 performances.

Still, it was not a typical playing week on Broadway. “Diana” and “Trouble in Mind,” held opening nights on Nov. 17 and Nov. 18, respectively. “Company” resumed performances on Nov. 15.

And after a 10-day closure due to COVID-19 cases, “Chicken & Biscuits” resumed performances Nov. 19. “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” cancelled its Nov.19 performance due to the absence of a lead actor, which was unrelated to COVID-19.

The Broadway League began releasing grosses five weeks ago, with the week ended Oct. 24 as the first on record this season. Grosses are reported as collective totals for all shows, and therefore may be skewed by a handful of high-grossing shows, while not showing an accurate picture of each show’s individual financial health.
