The Broadway League has announced that all Feb. 23 Broadway performances have been canceled. “Due to the continuing impacts from the blizzard and local travel restrictions still in place,” the League wrote in a statement, “Broadway theater owners and producers have come to the consensus that performances tonight (Monday, February 23) will be canceled.”

Shows affected include “Chicago,” “Every Brilliant Thing,” “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child,” “SIX” and “The Great Gatsby.”

The League’s decision follows its move yesterday, Feb. 22, to cancel all Sunday evening performances with curtain times of 6 p.m. or later.

“Chicago” has since added a performance on March 5 in response to the cancellations. Yesterday the cast of “Operation Mincemeat,” replaced its evening performance with a livestream on Instagram and YouTube, broadcast from the Laurie Beechman Theatre.

While producers on a number of shows canceled performances in January on account of snow, this is the first time in 10 years that the League has stepped in to cancel all performances on account of snow. On Saturday Jan. 23, 2016, the League cancelled all matinée and evening performances after the city banned all travel in the city and suspended public transportation. The city would go on to get over two feet of snow.

The National Weather Service is currently reporting that the heaviest part of the snowfall should end by 4 p.m. on Feb. 23. Mayor Zohran Mamdani has already announced that New York City public schools will reopen on Feb. 24.
