After a soaring Thanksgiving-holiday week, Broadway’s box office fell but still managed to stay above $33 million.

For the week ending Dec. 4, the 35 Broadway productions running grossed $33,891,293, a 10% decrease from the previous week. Capacity was at 83%, up 1% from last week.

The three top-grossing shows were “The Music Man,” “The Lion King” and “Hamilton.” Nine productions played to 95% capacity or greater while nine others entertained audiences that were less than 70% full.

A number of plays, both long-running and recently opened, saw increases at the box office as many musicals suffered post-Thanksgiving losses. “A Christmas Carol,” “Leopoldstadt,” “Mike Birbiglia: The Old Man & the Pool,” “Take Me Out,” “The Piano Lesson” and “Topdog/Underdog” were among the ten productions that saw gross increases last week.

Many musicals that likely attracted families over the holiday weekend saw significant gross decreases, including “Aladdin” (down 21%), “Beetlejuice” (down 23%), “Hamilton” (down 20%), “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” (down 29%), “The Lion King” (down 19%) and “Wicked” (down 21%).

In its first full week of performances after its Nov. 27 opening night, “KPOP” grossed $126,493, down 44% from last week. The new musical played to 72% capacity, down 12%.

“1776,” approaching the final weeks of its limited run at the American Airlines Theatre, saw its lowest-grossing and lowest-attended week so far. The revival earned $226,467, down 16%, and played to 55% capacity, down 17%.

“Ain’t No Mo’ ” and “A Beautiful Noise, The Neil Diamond Musical” both had their respective opening nights last week. “Between Riverside and Crazy” and “The Collaboration” began previews. “Ohio State Murders” and “Some Like It Hot” remained in previews.
