American Express has announced a contest in partnership with the Tony Awards. Theater fans are invited to respond to the prompt “If you could trade places with any character from a 2025 Tony-nominated show, who would it be and why (and from which show)?” for the chance to win a trip and tickets to the 2026 Tony Awards ceremony.
Additionally, the best response will earn the winner two tickets to two American Express-sponsored Broadway shows in June 2026, in addition to a $100 Uber gift card, a $100 Amex gift card, a $300 reservation at a Resy restaurant, a signed Broadway show poster and a bundle of Broadway-themed swag.
Several responses to the prompt, which are encouraged to be hot takes and over the top, will be read by Tony winner Aaron Tveit live during the 2025 Tony ceremony, which will be held on June 8 at Radio City Music Hall.
To enter the contest, individuals can either text their response to 1-445-BWAYFAN (1-445-292-9326) or fill out a response form here. Each fan is limited to one text/entry. The contest will close at 11:59 p.m. ET following the 2025 Tony telecast. Complete rules and details can be found here.

“Tony Awards: Act One” will stream live from 6:40 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. ET on Pluto TV. The 78th annual Tony ceremony, hosted by Cynthia Erivo, will be broadcast live from Radio City Music Hall on CBS and Paramount+ from 8:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m ET.
