“A Strange Loop” and “MJ” continue to break records at the box office following the Tony Awards.

For the week ending June 26, the 27 Broadway productions grossed $30,789,627 and played to 87% capacity. These figures are up 4% and 3% respectively from last week, despite two fewer shows running.

The Tony Award-winning Best New Musical “A Strange Loop” broke the Lyceum Theatre box office record for 8 performances last week. The musical grossed $860,496.00 and played to nearly 100% capacity. It continues to excel at the box office in the weeks following the June 12 ceremony.

Also playing to sold-out crowds was “MJ.” The musical maintained its post-Tonys high with its best-grossing week at $1,681,671.00 while packing the houses to more than 100% capacity.

Other productions nearly at or above the 100% capacity mark were “Hadestown,” “Hamilton,” “Plaza Suite,” “Six” and “The Lion King.”

Some musicals remain impacted by COVID-19 and other illnesses. “Six” and “Come From Away” both canceled their respective June 21 performances.

Meanwhile, “The Music Man” had a rebound week as Hugh Jackman rejoined the company on June 22 following his second bout with COVID-19. The musical grossed $3,234,017.92 and played to 98% capacity, up 81% and nearly 39% respectively from last week.

“Company” also saw significant box office increases following its closing announcement. The Tony-winning musical had its best week since March, grossing $823,686.19 and playing to 85% capacity.

“Paradise Square,” which saw a 47% increase at the box office in the week after Joaquina Kalukango took home the Tony Award for Lead Actress in a Musical, saw decreases in revenue and attendance last week. The musical grossed $363,663.80 and played to nearly 58% capacity, down 6% and 10% respectively.

“The Minutes” has shifted to a seven-performance schedule, resulting in a dip at the box office during the transition. The play grossed $251,171.00 and played to about 60% capacity, down nearly 8% and 10% respectively from the previous week.
