“A Strange Loop” has canceled its first preview performance after COVID-19 cases were discovered within the company, the production said Tuesday.

The cancellation of the Wednesday performance will allow the understudies more time to rehearse. The production is expected to resume Thursday.

The musical is currently scheduled to open at the Lyceum Theatre on April 26.

This is the second production in recent days to cancel performances due to COVID-19 cases. “Macbeth” canceled performances through April 7 after lead Daniel Craig and other members of the company tested positive for the virus.

COVID-19 cases have been on the rise in New York City as the BA.2 variant becomes dominant. The city has a seven-day average positivity rate of 2.89%.
