The Jimmy Awards, known formally as the National High School Musical Theatre Awards, has announced its participating regional awards programs. 51 programs from 27 states (including Washington, D.C.) will participate in the 15th annual Jimmy Awards honoring nationwide high school-level talent. The previously announced ceremony will take place on June 24 at Broadway’s Minskoff Theatre.

Each regional awards program is hosted by either a performing arts center or organization (often ones which present national tours) and will select two students from local high school performances as winners. Each program will sponsor the travel of those two honorees to New York City to participate in the Jimmys’ 10-day intensive of training and rehearsals with Broadway professionals. The week and a half culminates with the Jimmy Awards ceremony, where two students will be awarded Best Performance by an Actor and Best Performance by an Actress.

Students will represent regional awards programs from the following cities: Tempe and Tucson, Arizona; La Mirada, Los Angeles, Palm Springs, San Diego and San Jose, California; Denver, Colorado; New Haven, Connecticut; Washington, D.C.; Orlando, Tampa and West Palm Beach, Florida; Atlanta, Georgia; Des Moines, Iowa; Boise, ID; Chicago, Illinois; Boston, Massachusetts; East Lansing, Michigan; Minneapolis, Minnesota; Kansas City and St. Louis; Missouri; Charlotte and Durham, North Carolina; Omaha, Nebraska; Albuquerque, New Mexico; Las Vegas, Nevada; Buffalo, New York, Rochester and Schenectady, New York; Cleveland, Columbus and Dayton, Ohio; Oklahoma City and Tulsa, Oklahoma; Midland, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Providence, Rhode Island; Chattanooga, Knoxville, Memphis and Nashville, Tennessee; Austin, Dallas, Houston and San Antonio, Texas; Logan, Utah; and Appleton and Madison, Wisconsin.
