Tony Award-winning musical “The Outsiders” will premiere at Seoul, South Korea’s GS Arts Center in August 2027. This is the first non-English language replica production for “The Outsiders” and will be produced by Myung-Sung Park and Seensee Company. It is currently accepting applications for auditions.

Established in 1987, Seensee Company is the force behind several South Korean productions of Broadway musicals, including “Mamma Mia!,” “Billy Elliot,” “Aida,” “Chicago” and a 2020 production of “Rent” directed by Broadway cast member Andy Señor Jr. Seensee has also produced numerous original musicals and plays, including the musical “Arirang” based on the historical novel of the same name by Jeong-rae Jo.

Based on the 1967 novel by S.E. Hinton, “The Outsiders” had its world premiere at La Jolla Playhouse in 2023 before opening at Broadway’s Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre on April 11, 2024.  It features a book by Tony nominee Adam Rapp and Tony winner Justin Levine, with music and lyrics by Tony nominees Jonathan Clay and Zach Chance of Jamestown Revival. Levine also contributed music supervision, orchestration and arrangements. The musical features choreography by Tony nominees Rick and Jeff Kuperman. “The Outsiders” is directed by Tony winner Danya Taymor.

The musical continues its Broadway run at the Jacobs and is currently touring North America. As previously announced, there are productions planned for the West End as well as Australia.

Produced on Broadway by the Araca Group, American Zoetrope, Olympus Theatricals, Sue Gilad, Larry Rogowsky and Angelina Jolie, “The Outsiders” was nominated for 11 Tony Awards and won four, including Best Musical.
