The new musical Real Women Have Curves” has announced a slate of post-show events. Dubbed “Curves Fan Week,” the series of free programs will take place from June 3-8 at the musical’s home, the James Earl Jones Theatre. All ticket holders for each respective performance will be welcome to partake.

The activities will kick off with “Cantina Night.” Following the June 3 evening performance, audience members will be offered a variety of snacks from Siete Foods on behalf of Las Mujeres Garza, a group of individuals from Siete’s founding family who also serves as a co-producer on the production.

The evening performance on June 4 will be known as “Night of Joy.” Joy Huerta, who received a Tony Award nomination for creating the “Real Women” score with Benjamin Velez,” will host a sing-along featuring songs from the musical as well as some of her own Grammy Award-winning tunes.

Attendees of the June 5 performance, which will be known as the “Night of 200 Dresses,” will have the opportunity to win prizes from retailer Not Your Daughter’s Jeans. Also on this night, audience members will be encouraged to bring new and gently worn women’s professional clothing, jewelry and accessories to donate to Bottomless Closet, an organization whose mission is to make women feel confident, prepared and empowered to ace their employment journey.

Huerta will return for another sing-along following the June 6 performance. This event will coincide with and celebrate the release of the “Real Women Have Curves” original cast recording.

Finally, the performances held on June 7 and 8 will offer post-show giveaways to attendees.

Beyond the week of activations, the local eatery Friedman’s at the Edison Hotel will offer two “Real Women Have Curves”-themed cocktails: the De Nada Margarita (featuring tequila, blood orange and cardamom) and the Daydream Paloma (tequila, grapefruit, orange and cherry), both of which will be made using the musical’s official tequila partner, Gran Centenario. Individuals presenting a “Real Women” ticket stub at Friedman’s will get two of these drinks for the price of one.

Featuring a book by Lisa Loomer with Nell Benjamin, “Real Women Have Curves” is based on Josefina López’s play and the television movie of the same name. Set in 1987, the musical follows Ana, who, following high school graduation, is expected to remain in her hometown of Los Angeles and work in a garment factory alongside her mother to help support their family. Ana, however, dreams of pursuing a journalism career in New York City. The principal cast of “Real Women Have Curves” is led by Tatianna Córdoba as Ana and Justina Machado, who is currently Tony-nominated for her turn as Ana’s mother Carmen.

Following a 2023 world premiere bow at American Repertory Theater in Cambridge, Massachusetts, “Real Women Have Curves” began Broadway previews on April 1. The Sergio Trujillo-directed and -choreographed production opened at the James Earl Jones Theatre on April 27. Nadia DiGiallonardo serves as music supervisor and Roberto Sinha serves as music director.
