As “Operation Mincemeat” prepares to begin its second year on Broadway, its all-British cast will be handing over the reins to a new American cast. Original cast members David Cumming, Natasha Hodgson, Zoë Roberts, Claire-Marie Hall and Tony Award winner Jak Malone will play their final performance on Feb. 22.
The announcement of the show’s replacement cast, set to begin performances on Feb. 24, is still to be announced. “Operation Mincemeat” is currently set to run on Broadway through July 5, 2026.
Written by Cumming, Hodgson, Roberts and Felix Hagan, and directed by Robert Hastie, “Operation Mincemeat” tells the true story of a British plan during World War II to make the Nazis believe that Allied Forces were about to invade Greece and Sardinia rather than Sicily.
The musical was nominated for four 2025 Tonys: Best Musical, Best Book, Best Score and Malone for his performance. In addition to winning the Tony, Malone took home Drama Desk and Outer Circle Critic Awards. In 2024, he also received the Laurence Olivier Award for his performance on the West End, as did the show itself for Best New Musical.
“Operation Mincemeat” has been extended six times since its initial 16-week run and has played more than 1,000 performances. It is the second longest-running production at the Golden Theatre behind “Avenue Q,” which ran for 2,534 performances between 2003 and 2009.
