Nominations are here for the inaugural Broadway Ensemble Awards. The awards honor individuals and ensemble members in eight categories.

Nominees in the category of Most Outstanding Male in an Ensemble include Sean McLaughlin (“Chess”), Jacob Keith Watson (“Ragtime”), Shavey Brown (“Chess”), George Vickers (“Mamma Mia!”) and Xavi Soto Burgos (“Mamma Mia!”), with the category of Most Outstanding Female in an Ensemble comprising Allison Blackwell (“Ragtime”), Anne Fraser Thomas (“Queen of Versailles”), Sarah Meahl (“Chess”), Jasmine Overbaugh (“Mamma Mia!”) and Samantha Pollino (“Chess”).

Nominated for Most Outstanding Ensemble are “Chess,” “Ragtime” and “Mamma Mia!”

The Broadway Ensemble Awards are presented by the musical theater education nonprofit Stage Door Miracles Inc. The nonprofit is headed by Stepp Stewart, a choreographer, Emmy-nominated producer and ensemble member from the 1994 original Broadway production of “Jelly’s Last Jam,” the 1996 revival of “Applause” and the 1997 revival of “Dreamgirls.”

“Stage Door Miracles Inc.’s mission is to fill an artistic void,” Stewart explained, “and what better way than to recognize ‘the unsung heroes of Broadway’ — the ensemble?”

Nominees are selected and voted on by a committee of five members. In order to be eligible, a show must be new or a revival, have at least four ensemble members in the cast and have been fully open between June 24, 2025, and March 3, 2026, although a greater number of shows will be eligible next season, as the voting period will begin earlier. Any performer with an ensemble contract on a Broadway show that fits those criteria is eligible to be nominated for individual honors.

The first-ever Broadway Ensemble Awards ceremony will take place at 6:30 p.m. on April 6, 2026, at John Jay College’s Gerald W. Lynch Theater. Thayne Jasperson, an ensemble member from the original workshops, Off-Broadway and Broadway casts of “Hamilton,” and the only original cast member still performing in the show, will host the ceremony. Tickets are available to the public via the Broadway Ensemble Awards website.
