The Museum of Broadway has added a philanthropic wing called the Broadway Legacy Foundation. The launch of this 501(c)(3) organization comes as the museum celebrates its third anniversary. The occasion will be marked with a Nov. 11 event at the museum dubbed the Founding Salon.
The Foundation will be grounded with goals of educating and nurturing future generations of theater enthusiasts and preserving Broadway history. The Foundation will accomplish this framework through enrichment programs, special exhibitions and community initiatives that foster appreciation, inclusivity and advocacy for the performing arts. The Foundation will work with historians, educators and teaching fellows to develop interactive workshops and resources for use in the classroom.
Additionally, in partnership with the museum, the Foundation will acquire theater artifacts for use in crafting special exhibits. The first exhibit, which will put the spotlight on puppetry, will debut in January 2026, and will offer a series of special educational workshops, as well as free talkbacks, panels and programming.
The Foundation’s board will be led by chair Julie Boardman and vice-chair Diane Nicoletti, who co-founded the museum. Additional board members will include Christine Farah, Scott Landis, Joann Leatherby, Jennifer McMillon and Sara Beth Zivitz.
“Through our work with the Museum of Broadway over the past three years, we have seen firsthand the power of arts education and advocacy in inspiring future generations,” said Boardman and Nicoletti in a statement. “The launch of the Broadway Legacy Foundation builds on that mission to preserve the stories, artistry and impact of Broadway while expanding access to theater education and industry experiences.”
The Nov. 11 salon event will feature performances by Tituss Burgess, Sophia Anne Caruso, Jordan Donica, Ashley Loren, Bryonha Marie, Duncan Sheik, the Rescues and Marisha Wallace with Greg Anthony Rassen and Or Matias on the keys. The program will also feature appearances and remarks by Michael Arden, Charl Brown, Stark Sands, Steven Sater and Sergio Trujillo.
The host committee for the Founding Salon comprises the Miranda Family Fund, Barbara Baekgaard, Kate Cannova, Merrie L. Davis, Jamie deRoy, Lauren Shuler Donner, Wendy Federman, Mandy Hackett, Michael Peter Hormel, Kevin McCollum, Marianne Mills, Rick Miramontez, David Rockwell, Stark Sands, Haley Swindal, Henry Tisch, the Van Horn Group and Kumiko Yoshii.
