The Broadway musical “Mamma Mia!” has announced its first-ever “Girl Scouts Day,” set to take place during the Nov. 16, 1:00 p.m. performance at the Winter Garden Theatre. As part of the event, members of Girl Scouts of Greater New York are being extended a special offer to enjoy the ABBA-scored musical with the opportunity to experience a post-show talkback.
In conjunction with the partnership, Girl Scouts and their families who buy tickets using the show’s partnership offer will receive an exclusive “Mamma Mia!” Girl Scouts patch when attending the Nov. 16 matinée, and they’ll get to participate in a Q&A session with cast members immediately following the show.
“The energy, confidence and joy at the heart of ‘Mamma Mia!’ mirrors everything Girl Scouting stands for,” said Karen Lundgard, interim CEO of the Girl Scouts of Greater New York, in a statement. “We’re so excited for our Girl Scouts to see strong, inspiring women on stage and to feel that same spark of possibility within themselves. This partnership is a reminder that whether on Broadway or in their own communities, girls have the power to lead, create and shine.”
Carly Sakolove, who plays the role of Rosie in “Mamma Mia!” on Broadway, added, “Nearly three years into performing ‘Mamma Mia!’ across the country and on Broadway, my favorite scenes on stage are still the moments my character shares with her two best girlfriends, just being silly and encouraging each other through life’s highs and lows. Girl Scouts was one of the first places I remember learning the value and strength of female friendship, and I know the sisterhood we share on stage will have new meaning with an audience of Girl Scouts looking on at the Winter Garden.”
Girl Scouts of Greater New York is New York City’s oldest and largest girls’ leadership organization, reaching tens of thousands of girls ages five to 18 in every zip code of the five boroughs. Through Girl Scouts, girls explore STEM, business and entrepreneurship, environmental leadership and outdoor adventure, advocacy and more.
With music and lyrics by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, “Mamma Mia!” features a book by Catherine Johnson, direction by Phyllida Lloyd and choreography by Anthony Van Laast.
The current Broadway return engagement of the musical began performances on Aug. 2, 2025, and is scheduled to run through February 1, 2026.
