Lea Michele will play her final performance as Florence Vassy in the Broadway revival of “Chess” on June 21. A new block of tickets is also scheduled to be released next week; the limited engagement had previously been extended to June 21. Replacement casting to be revealed soon.

The revival, which features a new book by Danny Strong and direction by Michael Mayer, began previews at the Imperial Theatre on Oct. 15, 2025, and officially opened on Nov. 16. The production has been twice extended during its run.

Michele stars in “Chess” alongside Aaron Tveit as Freddie Trumper and Nicholas Christopher as Anatoly Sergievsky. The principal cast also includes Hannah Cruz, Bryce Pinkham, Bradley Dean and Sean Allan Krill.

Based on an idea by Tim Rice, “Chess” features music by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus of ABBA and lyrics by Rice. The musical follows a politically charged love triangle between two rival chess grandmasters and a woman who manages one but falls for the other.

In addition to Mayer, the creative team for “Chess” includes choreographer Lorin Latarro, music supervisor Brian Usifer, scenic designer David Rockwell, costume designer Tom Broecker, lighting designer Kevin Adams, sound designer John Shivers, video designer Peter Nigrini and hair/wig/makeup designer Campbell Young Associates.

“Chess” is produced by Tom Hulce, Robert Ahrens and the Shubert Organization along with Creative Partners Productions.
