“Jeff Ross: Take a Banana for the Ride” will be the next Broadway show to appear on Netflix. The play was recorded during its final weekend at the Nederlander Theatre last fall; the filmed version will be released globally on March 24. The limited engagement began performances on August 5, 2025 and closed on Sept. 28.
Ross’ Broadway debut will not be his foray into the world of Netflix. He starred in the comedy specials “Torching 2024: A Roast of the Year,” “The Roast of Tom Brady,” “Historical Roasts” and “Bumping Mics with Jeff Ross & Dave Attell,” among others. In “Take a Banana for the Ride,” Ross takes a turn from his usual comedic persona as the “The Roastmaster General” as he shares personal stories about his childhood and family.
The Netflix special is being produced by Ross, Amy Zvi and John Skidmore. It will be directed by Seth Barrish, who served as the dramaturg of the Broadway production. The stage production was directed by Stephen Kessler, with creative consultation by Jeff Calhoun and music direction by Asher Denburg. The Broadway producers were Eric Nederlander, Robert Nederlander Jr., Marc Cornstein and Tony Eisenberg, with ShowTown Productions as executive producer.
