Another week of brutally cold weather saw grosses drop to $30,170,014, a decrease of 5% from the week prior. Attendance also dipped 4.8% to 256,752, while capacity rose 1.8% week over week to 93.1%. For the week ending Feb. 8, there were two fewer shows playing than the week prior (down to 29 from 31); “Liberation” and “Mamma Mia!” closed on Feb. 1.

Fourteen of these 29 shows posted an increase in grosses. In its first week with reality television star Whitney Leavitt as Roxie Hart, “Chicago” saw its grosses nearly double, increasing by $657,212 — the greatest of the week. “Maybe Happy Ending” posted the second-largest rise of the week: $311,686.
