The Broadway play “Every Brilliant Thing” will hold an LGBTQIA+ Mental Health Night performance on April 14, according to a post on the show’s Instagram. Following the 7 p.m. show, audiences will be invited to stay for a talkback featuring the play’s star, Daniel Radcliffe, in conversation with Trevor Project CEO Jaymes Black and American Foundation for Suicide Prevention’s (AFSP) chief medical officer Dr. Christine Yu Moutier. The panel will be moderated by ABC News medical correspondent Dr. Darien Sutton.
The talkback is being presented in partnership with mental health nonprofits the Trevor Project and AFSP. The Trevor Project provides crisis services, peer support, advocacy, education and research to LGBTQ+ youth. AFSP advocates for mental health research and education through various programs nationwide.
Radcliffe is a frequent advocate for the Trevor Project. He has released numerous statements and public service announcements to help raise awareness for the nonprofit’s fundraising and outreach efforts, and moderated an LGBTQIA+ youth roundtable for the Trevor Project’s “Sharing Space” video series in 2023.
“Every Brilliant Thing” previously hosted a talkback between Radcliffe, People magazine’s deputy news director Dave Quinn and Project Healthy Minds founder/CEO Phillip Schermer on April 1. Project Healthy Minds is a nonprofit that connects people with mental health services via a free marketplace.
“Every Brilliant Thing” premiered at the Hudson Theatre on March 12, and is set to run through June 28. Written by Drama Desk Award nominees Duncan Macmillan and Jonny Donahoe, the solo show currently features Tony Award winner Radcliffe, to be replaced by Emmy and Golden Globe Award winner Mariska Hargitay in her Broadway debut on May 26.
“Every Brilliant Thing” is produced by Second Half Productions, Seaview and Gavin Kalin Productions.
