Concord Theatricals has announced its acquisition of the worldwide licensing rights to Samuel D. Hunter’s play “Little Bear Ridge Road” under its Samuel French imprint. The drama debuted on Broadway in 2025.

“I’m thrilled that ‘Little Bear Ridge Road’ is going to be available for licensing through Concord and Samuel French,” said Hunter in a statement. “I have been collaborating with them on many plays for many years now, and I'm so happy that they have acquired my Broadway debut. I look forward to working with this wonderful team on finding homes for ‘Little Bear’ around the world.”

Concord’s senior vice president of artistic development Amy Rose Marsh added, “‘Little Bear Ridge Road’ so beautifully demonstrates Samuel’s singular ability to find powerful connection in the most mundane of life’s challenges. The characters in this play are raw, vulnerable and elegantly complex. As Samuel’s licensing agent, we look forward to seeing actors around the world give these characters humanity and life.”

“Little Bear,” which centers on the rebuilding of a frayed relationship between a reclusive woman and her gay nephew after the passing of his troubled father during the COVID-19 pandemic, was originally commissioned by and premiered at Chicago’s Steppenwolf Theatre Company in 2024. After its initial workshop, it transferred to Broadway’s Booth Theatre in 2025 in Hunter’s Broadway debut. Both productions were directed by Tony Award winner Joe Mantello, and starred Tony winner Laurie Metcalf and Tony nominee Micah Stock.

“Little Bear Ridge Road” is one of 17 of Hunter’s plays licensed by Concord, including his Drama Desk Special Award-winning “The Whale” and the Obie Award-winning “A Bright New Boise.”
