Ellen’s Stardust Diner will offer a brunch featuring select members of the company of “Mamma Mia!” The event will take place on July 22 at 11:30 a.m. at the local eatery, located adjacent to Broadway’s Winter Garden Theatre, home to the upcoming revival.
Part of a series of “Mamma Mia!”-themed brunches that began on May 11 at the diner, the July 22 iteration will be the first to include performers from the Broadway company. The event will feature special menu items that give a nod to the songs of ABBA featured in “Mamma Mia!,” including “Gimme Gimme Chicken and Waffles,” “Voulez-Vous Vegan Parfait” and “Super Trouper Short Stack.” Themed beverages will include cocktails “Our Last Summer Sangria,” “Mamma Mia Mimosa,” “Lay All Your Love on Me Bellini” and “Take a Chance on Me Bloody Mary,” as well as the new “Honey, Honey Milkshake,” a honey ice cream blended drink topped with whipped cream, honeycomb cereal and an edible bee. The special shake will continue to be available throughout the month of August.
While the brunch is open to the public, it is a ticketed event; reservations can be made here. Additional “Mamma Mia!”-themed brunches (which will not include performances from the Broadway company) have also been announced for July 27 at 2 p.m., Aug. 10 at 11 a.m., Aug. 24 at 11 a.m., Aug. 31 at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., Sept. 21 at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. and Oct. 12 at 11 a.m.
Established in 1987 by Ellen Hart, Ellen’s Stardust Diner is a 1950s-themed diner which regularly features singing servers.
As previously reported, “Mamma Mia!” will begin previews on Aug. 2 and open on Aug.14. The Phyllida Lloyd-directed musical is scheduled to play a limited engagement through Feb. 1, 2026. The production is part of “Mamma Mia!”’s 25th anniversary national tour, which launched in October 2023, and will continue on the road following its Main Stem engagement.
“Mamma Mia!” features music and lyrics by ABBA’s Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus and a book by Catherine Johnson. Anthony Van Laast will serve as choreographer and Martin Koch will serve as music supervisor.
