The July 15, 7:00 p.m. performance of “Call Me Izzy” has been canceled. The production is expected to resume with the 2:00 p.m. matinée performance on July 16.
“Due to illness, tonight’s performance of ‘Call Me Izzy’ has been canceled,” reads a post on the show’s Instagram page. “Ticket holders will be contacted directly.”
Jean Smart, who stars in the solo play, has been out of the show with a knee injury. Standby Johanna Day has been going on as of late.
Written by Jamie Wax and directed by Sarna Lapine, the Louisiana-set play follows a woman whose poetry and love for words serve as a solace and escape from her abusive husband. Previews of the play began on May 24 ahead of a June 12 opening night at Studio 54. The production is scheduled to play a limited engagement through Aug. 17.
