As is tradition, Broadway will participate in the 2025 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Set for Nov. 27, the 99th iteration of the parade will be broadcast on NBC and simulcast on Peacock beginning at 8:30 a.m. in all time zones.
The parade will feature performances from the currently running Broadway productions of “Buena Vista Social Club,” “Just in Time” and “Ragtime.” The parade will also feature a special honoring of “A Chorus Line,” which recently celebrated the 50th anniversary of its inaugural bow on the Rialto. Baayork Lee, a member of the musical’s 1975’s opening-night cast and original dance captain, will serve as creative director and choreographer of the parade’s “‘A Chorus Line’: The Next Generation” number.
Broadway will also be well represented among other acts that day. Debbie Gibson, Darlene Love, Tiler Peck and Christopher Jackson, the latter of whom is currently featured in the musical “Hell’s Kitchen,” are all set to perform during the festivities. Additionally, Mia Michaels (who choreographed Broadway’s “Finding Neverland”) will choreograph several numbers for Macy’s House Dancers.
The Radio City Rockettes will also appear to celebrate the dance ensemble’s 100th anniversary.
The 2025 parade will include more than 5,000 volunteers, 32 balloons, 3 balloonicles (Macy’s custom combination of balloon and vehicle), 27 floats, four specialty units, 33 clown groups and 11 marching bands.
“Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is the official kickoff to the holiday season and has been part of the nation’s stories and traditions for generations,” said parade executive producer Will Coss in a statement. “The most wonderful stories start at the parade. On Thanksgiving morning, larger-than-life character balloons, awe-inspiring floats and showstopping performances will create unforgettable moments and lasting holiday memories for millions of spectators in New York City and across the country.”
Savannah Guthrie, Hoda Kotb and Al Roker will return as hosts of the broadcast. NBC will air an encore broadcast at 2 p.m. ET/PT. A Spanish-language simulcast, hosted by Andrea Meza, Aleyda Ortiz and Clovis Nienow will air on Telemundo. NBCUniversal will present the full broadcast with live audio description on the Secondary Audio Program channel (SAP), provided by Descriptive Video Works.
The procession will depart from the starting line at 77th Street in Manhattan and will finish at Macy’s iconic Herald Square flagship. Public viewing is available at designated locations along the parade route. The Broadway productions are not a part of the procession, but take place on the stage in front of Macy’s.
