The Broadway League, the national trade association for the Broadway industry, has announced a date for the 2025 summer iteration of Kids’ Night on Broadway. The biannual audience development program will take place on Aug. 19. On this date, select Broadway shows will offer complimentary admission to theatergoers age 18 or younger when attending with a full-paying adult.

Eighteen Broadway shows will participate: “& Juliet,” “Aladdin,” “Buena Vista Social Club,” “Chicago,” “Hadestown,” “Hamilton,” “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child,” “Hell’s Kitchen,” “John Proctor Is the Villain,” “Mamma Mia!,” “MJ,” “Moulin Rouge!,” “Operation Mincemeat,” “SIX,” “Stranger Things: The First Shadow,” “The Lion King” and “The Outsiders.” “The Great Gatsby,” which does not have a scheduled performance on Aug. 19, will participate with their Aug. 20 performance.

Prior to curtain time, all Kids’ Night ticket holders are invited to congregate at Duffy Square in Times Square (located at the intersection of 46th Street and Broadway) from 4:30 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. The pre-theater event will offer a variety of activities for families, including the opportunity to meet cast members from current Broadway shows. The first 500 individuals to arrive with their Kids’ Night on Broadway ticket will receive a special tote bag and a baked good from Krispy Kreme.

“New York City is alive during the summer and Kids’ Night creates a unique opportunity for families to come to Broadway for an evening of fun,” said League president Jason Laks in a statement. “These 18 extraordinary shows offer something for all ages and allow parents, grandparents or other family members to introduce younger audiences to live theater and nurture their love for the arts.”

In addition to the performance, the festivities will be supplemented with a custom Kids’ Night activity book, as well as post-show talkbacks, sing-alongs and art projects at select shows.

Local businesses will partake, as well. The Museum of Broadway will offer discount admission on Aug. 19 for Kids’ Night ticket holders. Several local eateries — including Applebee’s (both 42nd and 50th Streets locations), Carnegie Diner and Café, Churrascaria Plataforma, Dave and Busters Times Square, Ellen’s Stardust Diner, Glass House Tavern, Hard Rock Cafe, Havana Central, Le Rivage, Pink Taco, Planet Hollywood, Playwright Celtic Pub, Playwright Tavern, Popeyes Chicken, Schnipper’s, Shake Shack and Sinigual — will offer free children’s meals with the purchase of an adult entree to these theatergoers.

Presented in a partnership with the New York Times, the League has offered the program since 2016. Its goal is to simultaneously increase attendance of younger theatergoers and to cultivate an early love of theater. Select venues across the country now host a Kids’ Night event for touring productions.
