The Broadway production of “MJ” will host a barbecue immediately following the musical’s matinée and evening performances on July 6. The musical will provide a free barbecue sandwich from the Empire BBQ food truck to individuals who show their same-day “MJ” ticket stub. The cookout will take place outside the Neil Simon Theatre, home to “MJ”; a vegetarian option will be available.

Featuring a Tony Award-nominated book by Lynn Nottage set to a slew of tunes made popular by Michael Jackson, “MJ” chronicles Jackson’s career leading up to his 1992 “Dangerous” tour. Christopher Wheeldon directs and choreographs the bio-musical, which also features signature Jackson moves from choreographers Rich and Tone Talauega. “MJ” opened on Feb. 1, 2022, and was nominated for 10 Tony Awards, winning four, including one for Wheeldon’s choreography.

“MJ” is produced by Lia Vollack, John Branca and John McClain.
