The Broadway Green Alliance (BGA) has set a fall date for its biannual e-waste recycling event. BGA will collect used electronics on Nov. 12 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Times Square, directly across from the red steps in Duffy Square.

The e-waste drive is open to both members of the Broadway community and the general public, offering a centrally located, free resource in order to responsibly recycle electronics. The event is a partnership with 4THBIN, an organization that provides secure and certified recycling solutions.

Individuals representing Broadway shows and industry-related organizations can donate a hamper full of electronics for free; there is a suggested cost 50 cents per pound for additional materials. The general public can recycle up to 100 pounds for free.

The BGA will accept computers and peripherals, electronic cords, fax machines, CPUs, phones, laptops, printers, combination television and computers, PDAs and pagers, camera and other data-containing devices.

Items such as light bulbs, batteries, household appliances, air-conditioning units, power tools, coffee machines and medical devices (such as X-ray machines) will not be collected.

Founded in 2008, the BGA is dedicated to educating, motivating and inspiring the theater community to implement environmentally friendlier practices. The organization recently announced the establishment of an advisory council and a board of directors.
