Allison Blackwell has joined the company of “Ragtime.” The Broadway veteran will take on the role of Sarah’s Friend in the previously announced revival, set to begin previews on Sept. 25 and open on Oct. 16 at Lincoln Center Theater’s Vivian Beaumont Theater. Blackwell is replacing the previously announced Charity Angél Dawson, who has exited the production due to an injury.

Blackwell is a Main Stem alum most recently seen onstage in “New York, New York.” Her other Broadway credits include “Pretty Woman: The Musical,” “A Night with Janis Joplin,” “The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess” and “The Lion King.”

Lear deBessonet, Lincoln Center Theater’s new artistic director, is at the helm of the “Ragtime” revival, which began under her prior artistic directorship with New York City Center. Broadway’s “Ragtime” is scheduled to play a limited engagement through January 4, 2026.
