# ‘What the Constitution Means to Me’ announces recoupment on Broadway

“What the Constitution Means to Me” has recouped its investment on Broadway, the production announced Monday.

The play, starring and written by Heidi Schreck, has recouped its full capitalization of $2.5 million in the week ending July 14\. After [transferring to Broadway](https://broadwaynews.com/2019/01/14/what-the-constitution-means-to-me-will-transfer-to-broadway/?ref=broadwaynews.com) from an extended run off-Broadway with New York Theatre Workshop, the production has been playing to full houses for the majority of its run at the Helen Hayes Theater.

Grosses have also remained consistent, with the play averaging 80% to 90% of its gross potential each week of the run. Attendance has not fallen below 97% capacity.

The play hit its highest gross, of $536,780, or 90.5% of its gross potential, in the week ended June 23.

On Broadway, the play is produced by Diana DiMenna, Aaron Glick and Matt Ross.

Directed by Oliver Butler, “What the Constitution Means to Me” began previews on Broadway on March 14, 2019\. It runs on Broadway through Aug. 24.

A [national tour](https://broadwaynews.com/2019/06/03/what-the-constitution-means-to-me-to-launch-national-tour/?ref=broadwaynews.com), which will not star Schreck, and a run [at the Kennedy Center](https://broadwaynews.com/2019/06/20/what-the-constitution-means-to-me-plans-kennedy-center-run-after-broadway/?ref=broadwaynews.com) are planned following the Broadway run.

The play joins five other plays on Broadway last season that have announced recoupment. No musicals from last season have yet announced recoupment.
