At the Jan. 7 matinée performance of Broadway’s “A Strange Loop,” Tony Award-winning writer Michael R. Jackson stepped into the lead role of Usher in a special concert version of the musical.

Jackson will take the stage again for another concert version of the show on Saturday night.

The Thursday, Jan. 5, and Friday, Jan. 6 performances of “A Strange Loop” [were canceled due to non-COVID-related illness](https://broadwaynews.com/2023/01/06/a-strange-loop-cancels-performances/?ref=broadwaynews.com) within the company.

“A Strange Loop” opened at the Lyceum Theatre on April 26, 2022, and [will play its final performance](https://broadwaynews.com/2022/10/11/a-strange-loop-sets-broadway-closing-date/?ref=broadwaynews.com) on Jan. 15.

The musical is produced by Barbara Whitman, with Page 73 Productions, Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company and Playwrights Horizons.
