# ‘The Music Man’ continues box office reign, industry capacity dips

“The Music Man” continued to top the weekly grosses, bringing in $3.3 million in the week ended March 27.

This is [slightly less than](https://broadwaynews.com/2022/03/23/the-music-man-tops-3-million-as-weekly-grosses-resume/?ref=broadwaynews.com) it made the prior week, but still continues the musical’s trend of grossing more than $3 million for the past six weeks. Its numbers were followed by the traditional box office leaders, “Hamilton” at $2.2 million, “Wicked” at $1.9 million and “The Lion King” at $1.7 million.

“Plaza Suite” was the fifth highest grossing shows of the week, bringing in $1.6 million, with an average ticket price of $201\. This was the third highest average ticket price of the week, following “The Music Man” at $272 and “Hamilton” at $211.

On the lower end of the grosses, “Paradise Square” brought in $346,651 and played to a capacity of 93% in its second week of performances. This box office total is close to $9,000 below its first week.

Some returning brands continued to see weakened sales: “Tina” grossed $812,681 and played to a capacity of 58%. “Dear Evan Hansen” grossed $749,175 and played to a capacity of 81%. “Come From Away” grossed $623,207 and played to a capacity of 79%.

Overall capacity for the industry fell to 89%, down from 92% in the previous week, as the industry added two more shows, “Funny Girl” and “American Buffalo,” to the roster.
