# ‘The Minutes’ delays Broadway start by two weeks

“The Minutes” will begin previews at Studio 54 on April 2, pushing the play’s start date by two weeks.

A new opening date is set for April 17\. The play was [previously scheduled](https://broadwaynews.com/2021/10/15/schitts-creek-lead-noah-reid-joins-broadway-cast-of-the-minutes/?ref=broadwaynews.com) to start March 19 and open April 7\. The production did not specify a reason for the delay.

Four other Broadway shows have [pushed first preview dates](https://broadwaynews.com/2022/01/27/the-little-prince-delays-broadway-performances-amid-covid-19-challenges/?ref=broadwaynews.com) from March to April, citing challenges related to the Omicron variant.

“The Minutes” by Tracy Letts had played 19 previews at the Cort Theatre before the pandemic forced an 18-month shutdown of the industry.

The play [moved theaters](https://broadwaynews.com/2021/03/01/shubert-organization-to-begin-expansion-of-broadways-cort-theatre/?ref=broadwaynews.com) due to planned renovations at the Cort Theatre. It will resume performances in the spring with most of its original cast. Noah Reid has taken over the role previously played by Armie Hammer.

The Steppenwolf Theatre Company production is directed by Anna D. Shapiro, and produced by Jeffrey Richards, Rebecca Gold, Carl Moellenberg, Spencer Ross and Louise Gund.
