# ‘The Book of Mormon’ national tour ends its run

“The Book of Mormon” national tour, which has been running for more than seven years, announced Tuesday that it will end its run due to health and safety concerns around COVID-19.

The second national tour had engagements scheduled through the summer, but put a halt to the tour after its March 11 performance at the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles. The producers plan to relaunch the tour in the 2021-2022 season after a pre-scheduled hiatus.

The tour played 2,828 performances across 360 playing weeks.

This joins [several other tours](https://broadwaynews.com/2020/03/31/touring-productions-wait-on-the-sidelines-amid-theater-shutdowns/?ref=broadwaynews.com), including “Hello, Dolly!” and “Once on This Island,” that ended their runs early while theaters around the country remain shuttered. Others await guidance on rebooking and the reopening of theaters.

The musical features a book and score by Trey Parker, Robert Lopez and Matt Stone. The production is choreographed by Casey Nicholaw and directed by Nicholaw and Parker.
