The 2011 Tony Award-winning Best Musical “The Book of Mormon” has become the ninth-longest-running show in Broadway history. As of Sept. 25, the musical comedy had played 5,759 performances at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre, surpassing “Mamma Mia!,” which played 5,758 performances during its original Broadway run. “The Book of Mormon” is also the longest-running production at the O’Neill.

“Book of Mormon” is now behind the eighth-longest-running Broadway show of all time: the 1976 revival of “Oh! Calcutta!,” which played 5,959 performances at the now-defunct Edison Theatre from 1976 to 1989.
