# ‘Stereophonic’ recoups investment; will tour and play West End in 2025

Ahead of its Jan. 12 final performance on the Main Stem, “Stereophonic” has announced plans for the play’s life post-Broadway. The 2024 Best Play Tony Award winner, written by David Adjmi, will receive a West End transfer, with performances set to begin in May at London’s Duke of York’s Theatre. Additionally, the play has scheduled a national tour, launching in October at Seattle’s Paramount Theatre. 

The West End mounting and the tour will be produced by Sonia Friedman Productions, Sue Wagner, John Johnson, Seaview, Linden Productions and Ashley Melone and Nick Mills.

Producers for “Stereophonic” have also revealed that the production has recently recouped its original investment.

Finally, [Concord Theatricals](https://www.broadwaynews.com/concord-theatricals-announces-key-executive-appointments-and-promotions/) has acquired the exclusive, worldwide licensing rights to the play. “Stereophonic” will be available for licensing through [Samuel French](https://www.concordtheatricals.com/p/97609/stereophonic?ref=broadwaynews.com), an imprint of Concord. Licensing availability will be announced.

Featuring [Tony-winning direction](https://www.broadwaynews.com/5-minutes-with-a-tony-nominee-stereophonics-daniel-aukin/) by Daniel Aukin and Tony-nominated original music by Will Butler, “Stereophonic” [chronicles the creative process](https://www.broadwaynews.com/how-writing-about-recording-a-single-album-became-an-epic-play-that-cannot-be-contained/) of a 1970s rock group as they record their sophomore album amid personal and professional challenges. 

Following a fall 2023 [Off-Broadway mounting](https://www.broadwaynews.com/stereophonic-will-transfer-to-broadway/) at Playwrights Horizons, “Stereophonic” began Broadway previews on April 2, 2024 and [opened](https://www.broadwaynews.com/the-broadway-review-stereophonic-is-a-strum-of-genius/) on April 19 at the John Golden Theatre. Originally announced as a limited engagement through July 7, the play was first extended through [Aug. 18](https://www.broadwaynews.com/stereophonic-announces-extension-into-august/), then through [Jan. 5, 2025](https://www.broadwaynews.com/stereophonic-receives-second-extension/) and finally through [Jan. 12](https://www.broadwaynews.com/stereophonic-extends-again-replacement-casting-announced/). The production received 13 Tony nominations (a record for a straight play), winning five. An [original cast album](https://www.broadwaynews.com/stereophonic-to-receive-original-cast-album/) was released in May.

Casting, dates and additional cities for the national tour will be announced at a later date.
