“Ron Weasley has been a part of me since I was 11 years old and I can’t wait to meet him again in this stage of life,” said Grint in a statement. “There is something so full-circle and so special about stepping back into Ron’s shoes now when we are both fathers; it is somehow both very familiar and completely new. And the joy of being back on Broadway, this time in a role that defined so much of my life is truly exciting. The first time I saw ‘Cursed Child’ onstage, I was blown away and I can’t wait to set foot back on Platform 9 ¾ and pick up where I left off. I am overjoyed to join this exceptional cast and crew at the Lyric Theatre this winter.”

Grint made his Broadway debut in “It’s Only a Play” in 2014, opposite Matthew Broderick and Nathan Lane. He made his West End debut in Jez Butterworth’s “Mojo.” Grint’s screen credits include all eight original “Harry Potter” films as well as “Nightborn,” “Servant,” “Knock at the Cabin” and “Wild Target.”

The cast of “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” features John Skelley as Harry Potter and Trish Lindstrom as Ginny Potter with Emmet Smith as their son Albus Potter. Rachel Christopher plays Hermione Grange and Daniel Fredrick plays Ron Weasley with Janae Hammond as their daughter Rose Granger-Weasley. “Harry Potter” film actor Tom Felton is repriing his role as Draco Malfoy with Aidan Close as his son Scorpius Malfoy. Kristen Martin plays Delphi Diggory. As previously announced, Felton’s final performance will be January 3, 2027.

Directed by John Tiffany and based on an original story by J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne and Tiffany, “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” is set 19 years after the events of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,” centering on Harry’s headstrong son Albus. The original Broadway production won six Tony Awards, including Best Play.
