# Robyn Hurder extends run in Broadway’s ‘Chicago’

Robyn Hurder has extended her stay at “Chicago”’s Cook County Jail. Hurder, who [joined](https://www.broadwaynews.com/robyn-hurder-will-return-to-broadways-chicago/) the revival at the Ambassador Theatre on March 24, will now play Velma Kelly through Sept. 15\. She was originally scheduled to play the principal role through June 16.

This is Hurder’s second tenure with the John Kander and Fred Ebb tuner, having briefly played Roxie in 2017 and Mona while understudying Roxie. Hurder received a Tony Award nomination for her featured turn in 2019’s “Moulin Rouge!” and originated the role of Marcia Murphey in [“A Beautiful Noise.”](https://www.broadwaynews.com/robyn-hurder-opens-up-about-why-a-beautiful-noise-was-completely-unexpected/)

In addition to Hurder, the current principal cast of “Chicago” includes [Bianca Marroquín](https://www.broadwaynews.com/bianca-marroquin-and-natasha-yvette-williams-will-return-to-chicago/) as Roxie Hart, [Max von Essen](https://www.broadwaynews.com/max-von-essen-to-join-broadways-chicago/) as Billy Flynn, Natasha Yvette Williams as Matron “Mama” Morton, Raymond Bokhour as Amos Hart and R. Lowe as Mary Sunshine. As previously announced, [Ariana Madix](https://www.broadwaynews.com/ariana-madix-sets-summer-return-to-broadways-chicago/) will return to the role of Roxie Hart from Aug. 1 through Aug. 27, and [Jinkx Monsoon](https://www.broadwaynews.com/jinkx-monsoon-to-return-to-chicago-for-limited-time/) will return as Matron “Mama” Morton from June 27 through July 12.

Featuring a score by John Kander and Fred Ebb and a book by Ebb and Bob Fosse, “Chicago” is directed by Walter Bobbie and choreographed by Ann Reinking. The second-longest show (play or musical) in Broadway history, the musical opened on Nov. 14, 1996.
